Day 1  Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

 Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your journey begins with a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s charming capital city. En route, stop at Tamchog Lhakhang Iron Bridge, a traditional chain bridge nestled in a stunning valley. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening strolling around Thimphu Clock Tower Square and sampling some local cuisine.

 After breakfast, explore the best of Thimphu. Visit the Buddha Dordenma, an enormous golden statue overlooking the city, and the Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the Third King. Discover Bhutanese craftsmanship at the Folk Heritage Museum, and see traditional paper being made at the Jungshi Paper Factory. End your day with panoramic views from Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government.

 Enjoy a scenic drive to Punakha, passing through Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where you can admire 108 chortens and, on a clear day, views of the snow-capped Himalayas. On arrival, visit the stunning Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress at the confluence of two rivers. In the afternoon, take a short hike through rice paddies to the unique Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility.

 Start your day with an optional adventure: rafting on the Mo Chhu River (seasonal). Then, head to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a hilltop temple offering peaceful views of the valley after a moderate hike. Enjoy the serene beauty and slow pace of Punakha before winding down at your hotel.

Drive to Paro, a beautiful town nestled in a wide valley. En route, stop to explore Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan. If time allows, enjoy a peaceful walk to the charming Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples.

This is the highlight of any Bhutan trip. After breakfast, embark on a half-day trek to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), clinging to a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley. The journey is as rewarding as the destination, offering spiritual fulfillment and breathtaking views. After the hike, unwind with a traditional hot stone bath (optional) and a farewell Bhutanese dinner.
